PASTOR ANTHONY F. HALLEY, II

Meet Our Pastor

Anthony Halley is the current Pastor of True Light Missionary Baptist Church located in the Historic Independence Heights neighborhood of Houston, Texas. He is a native of Detroit, MI. He is the son of Mr. Anthony F. Halley, Sr. and Mrs. Barbara Ann Halley-Peterson.  He was married to the late First Lady, Jenay Halley. Pastor Halley succeeded Pastor Emeritus John W. Bowie, Sr, on September 17, 2015.

Anthony Halley received an Associate Business Management degree from Wayne County Community College in Detroit, Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas.  Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Divinity at George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University.

Anthony accepted his call to the ministry in 1993 at the age of 14. Upon his acceptance, he was provided a solid biblical foundation by his father in the Ministry, the late Doctor Jerome Kirby, Pastor of the New Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Highland Park, Michigan. He then received his license to preach in December of 1995. Anthony was later mentored by Pastor Stephen C. Nash, Sr., who ordained him in October 2006.

Throughout his life and ministry, Anthony has demonstrated a caliber of leadership well beyond his years. Most recently, in an effort to minister to the needs of the broken and heavy hearted during this difficult time, Anthony has launched “The Hurt Pastor” Facebook Live Show. This virtual gathering is real, raw and relevant to the needs of men and women alike who have struggled with grief, change and seemingly unanswered questions. While the show has only been in existence for two months, it has quickly become a fan favorite and a highly anticipated time of communal sharing. Anthony continues to challenge himself and others to think outside of the box to effectively reach the needs of the lost or the unchurched. What the world needs now, he says, is truth, transparency and an unfiltered testimony. For it is those things that will change lives and lead souls to Christ.

“Called to Equip God’s People in Unity and Love”
Ephesians 4:11-13 NIV

So, Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
